What language are you speaking?

ATI has released their new cards. The only card that hasn't made it to retail channels yet is the X1800XT.

The 7800 series is dropping rapidly in price. In terms of performance the 7800GT is better most of the time than the X1800XL.

The 7800GTX is only better at high resolution with no AA or AF, while the X1800XT is decent at high res no AA/AF, but slaughters all when AA/AF are enabled. The ATI cards use ~50-60Watt more power than the Nvidia cards.

The X1800XT is supposed to be available on November 5th, with Crossfire X1800 cards available sometime in November. At least that's what ATI has been saying. Benchmarks show the X1800XT as very competitive with the 7800GTX. Competition and a few months' time will undoubtedly lower the price of G70-based parts, and today's reports are that NVIDIA will release a 512MB 7800GTX in early November (which could also exert some downward pressure, but probably not too much).

Beyond that, the rumors are that ATI's next PC GPU will be based on the XBox360 GPU (no, really). This would probably be in the 12-24 month range, but nobody outside of ATI's engineering department really knows (assuming *they* even do). The architecture seems to be moving towards fewer pipes but with far more pixel/vertex shaders, which could give some interesting performance numbers. Overall fillrate might not be as high as a card like a 7800GTX, but in shader-heavy games, it could be very impressive.

QFT ... especially given the problems they recently had even getting this version out.

If you believe the explanations that were given, it sounds like the problems were not entirely their fault (they needed a respin due to problems with an IC design they had licensed). Being in the computer hardware industry myself, I've seen the effects of this sort of problem. It's not always easy to find or fix, and a chip respin costs at least 6-8 weeks of time.

It should be interesting to see if things turn around for them now that (supposedly) their manufacturing issues have been solved.

No offense, but i think that is just a bunch of hyped up rumors to keep people on their toes. ATI hasn't even fully released teh X1800XT. Why would they kill that cards selling point by announcing a far superior product so early.

Nvidia on the other hand is probably in a position to do that based on how well ATI's card is doing against them. That is the advantage of releasing earlier.

Lol, well Dug isn't the only one. Many people have fallen for the "rumor" whether it be true or not we cant say, but basic marketing would suggest that it isn't.

Once I can go into my local Bestbuy and purchase a 1800XT for MRSP, then rumors might mean more then someone saying "It's coming soon, I heard it from someone".
