Does Antivir free scan firefox downloads?

I just switched from Avast to Antivir free and don't see any indication that Antivir actually scans downloads from firefox. Does this get done or do I need to set something up?

Thanks

I see it on the download box when it's finished. It's especially visible in really large files and archives. It'll say scanning for viruses, or something like that.

Edit:
To check it you could upload that text file that checks A/V scanners, and then download it and see if it gets caught.

I guess I could try downloading a rather large file and see whether it sits there scanning it at the end. The only reason I started questioning it is because I never see the Firefox download window looking like its scanning anything like it does at work with Kasperksy.

Try downloading the EICAR test file. If it downloads without being caught, you have a problem. But the real-time protection of any legit antivirus should nail it on arrival, if not in transit.

Great thanks!

That's what I was thinking of, but couldn't remember what it was called.

As long as it has a filter driver it should scan all files at creation, open, execute, etc time regardless of the app touching the file.

Yes it does indeed scan the downloads since it picked that file up when I downloaded it. Thanks all.
