Does and FX5600 (NON-ULTRA) card draw more power than a GF4 Ti4200 card?

Im asking this coz my PC always hangs-up when I use an FX5600 non-ultra card...it never does this with a GF4 Ti4200...Im suspecting my power supply cz im currently using a generic 250W PSU since my 350W Enermax broke down a week ago...

The system requirements for a fx5600 state that you must have atleast a 250w psu. If your running alot of extra hardware as well then your not going to have enough power for your fx5600. The fx5600 is alot more power hungry than a gf4 ti4200 so you will need a better psu! 🙂

well, i'm not sure about a 4200, but it sure uses more power than my 8500. My antec power supply broke down when i upgraded to a 5600.

What can be causing such crashes? I did not unintall drivers btw going from a Ti4200 to an FX5600 coz they're the same drivers, right? I just swapped cards...is there any possible problem with this...im on the 45.23 detonators

There's your problem, you should ALWAYS uninstall drivers when changing hardware!!!!!!

hmmmmmmmmm...i thought the detonators were universal drivers for ALL nvidia graphics chip, and I can just swap cards, and the drivers will just autodetect the new hadware (this is with the 45.23 drivers...)

It's always better to uninstall the drivers before installing a new video card even if they both use Nvidia chipsets, trust me on this! 🙂
