I've been visiting these forums for a few weeks and decided to join up. I'm not a dem or repub, so I like to look at things from both sides.

But it just seems to me that there are far more democrats here ... or is it that they are more louder?

Troll with multiple accounts (Runner20). Move along, nothing to see.

There are more liberal people here, likely because of the average age. Youger people tend to be more liberal.

The conservatives tend to be louder and more obnoxious though. ;)

I am willing to bet the avg age of the posters here is between the ages of 15-25. So I am also willing to bet they are much more liberal due to their age.

In case you havent noticed there is quite a few dedicated liberals on this board. And they sure know how to use google to their advantage. And dont forget calling anybody they disagree with a liar.

It's also the geek factor. Kids (and adults) living in their mom's basement and all tend to be democrats.

Of course I live in the basement too - but it's in my own house dammit!!

There are more liberals than conservatives here.

And there are a few people on both sides who are very vocal, yet don't really add anything to the discussion.

Finding well-reasoned views from both sides is very possible.

Rip and his right wing extreme pals are somehow older and more mature, thus conservative? That's a good one.

It's probably a mix of things, but tech savy folks lean left due to location and education. I suspect the people who pop into thread, insult others and make absurd, unfounded claims are just young.

I'm rather new here myself, though I've been reading the responses on this board for a while now.

It's actually easy to spot the partisan followers around here.

Just look at their signatures.....

It's amazing how much they tell about an individual. The ones with political commentary in them are usually so devotee that logical dialogue defies them.

Your right to a extent. One example is SF and surrounding areas, where lots of the tech stuff takes place, they are racical leftists over there.

Most republicans are poor uneducated hicks who think if it wer'nt for those darn monorities and taxes they would be rich beyond thier wildest dreams. Most dems are idealists and fail to grasp people need to be "over the barrel" financially for personal success. I'm sure someplace in the middle is where it's at.

There are not more liberals than conservatives up here. If anything, it's probably rather split with a good number of Libertarians here.

However, what you *will* find is a much higher number of people who are against Bush and his entire administration. That does not make people liberals or Democrats or Communists or Socialists or whatever. It makes them against Bush and his administration because of its secrecy, deception, flip-flops, broken campaign promises, inability to admit mistakes, unjustified wars, fiscal irresponsibility, etc.

Intersting break down of 2000 election nationally. I'm sure AT is more demo simply because of the age...

Voting Breakdowns

We now have more statistics from the presidential election. They may surprise you. Then again, maybe they won't.

? Past winners of the Academy Award (movie stars, producers, directors) gave 40 times more money to Democrats and Greens than they did to Republicans.

? Among the 15 percent of voters who make more than $100,000 per year, George W. Bush won only 54 percent of the vote.

? Among the 4 percent of the electorate who describe their social status as "upper class," Al Gore won 56 percent to 39 percent.

? Single people picked Gore over Bush, 58 percent to 37 percent.

? Married people preferred Bush, 54 percent to 44 percent.

? Single women chose Gore, 66 percent to 30 percent.

? Married women's votes were split evenly between Gore and Bush.

? Working women favored Gore by 19 points.

? Stay-at-home women backed Bush by 20 points.

? 80 percent of Jews gave their vote to the Gore-Lieberman ticket.

? 70 percent of gays and lesbians pledged allegiance to Gore.

Maybe the forum just reflects America itself. Maybe there are more liberals then conservatives in America, despite what the right would lead you to believe.

;)

There is no floor so low that I won't go. That's my official position (prone, that is, on the floor). However, not so fast with the assumptions. Since I live in what is officially a flood plain, I have no basement. A dungeon, yes, but no basement.

Makes sense - hollywood elite :)

That's a little suprising.

How is this different than bullet point #3 - or is it that more snobs voted for Gore?

? Single people picked Gore over Bush, 58 percent to 37 percent.

Suprised it wasn't higher - it will be this year.

Someday you will find a good woman, get married, have kids, and move to the basement ;)

Perky - I feel for you. Without my basement I'd never get any sleep or privacy! Well - I guess when you are prone on the floor you get some?
