Does an MPEG decoder card also decode the DivX MPEG4

or can you only decode MPEG 4 with software? I just got a DVD and it plays great on software with my PC (below)not one dropped frame that I can see ever. Iwas reading on converting DVD to DivX so I can store a movie on one CD and they say the quality is graet, but I also heard it is a real strain even on fast processors..Is there hardware that will decode MPEG 4 or will a Promise card do MPEG 4 on hardware??

No one has a MPEG 4 decoder in hardware yet. Probably not for at least a year (probably 2-3 if ever). The software just isn't stable enough. Best to hope for better video card support for "some" features of DivX to help reduce CPU load (like some cards help with MPEG 2 now with motion compression).

Best option is LOTS of memory and LOTS of processor power (both cheap right now).
