Does an IBM T42 come with a recovery disk?

what do i do if i need to format. my new T42 is the only machine with windows XP, so i dont have a windows XP cd

Would seem to me that it would have come with a copy.
Otherwise go to Office Depot, Office Max or store of your choice and purchase copy of windows.

There is a recovery partition loaded with IBM factory default winxp and stuff you can choose when booting up. Make sure when you format you don't erase that partition. Or else, you can call IBM and request a recovery CD.

I believe if you press the "Access IBM" button near the top of your keyboard will have an option that allow you to burn a recovery CD.

for my T23 it was on a seperate partition.

however, i called IBM and they overnighted me recovery CD's with the OS on it, for free. you may want to try that out if you want the actual disks.

In my experience at work, if you don't call them within a few months of buying the laptop, they'll charge you for the disks.
