Does an extra 1 Gig count?

Hello, so I'm upgrading my GFX card, and I'm thinking of possibly purchasing another 2 gigs of RAM for my computer, for around 30 bucks. I already have 2 gigs, and I'm running Vista 32 bit. My question is: If I got this new RAM, would I be able to use the full 2 gigs, or just the extra 1 gig? Could I just buy 2x512 chips, and get the extra gig that way? Would it make a noticeable difference in my system performance? I've got a P35-DS3R Gigabyte mobo, and I'm not exactly sure if I can just add some 2x512 chips and have them work. I'm thinking of not getting any RAM, but I'm not sure if it's a really good idea to get RAM right now or not.

Anyone have any advice?

Windows 32-bit OS will address 4GB TOTAL (RAM, video card, MB, etc.
Slice & dice it any way you want... 4GBs is the total limit.

I'd buy a nice 4GB kit now and sell off your current 2GB (or save it for some future project).
Don't worry about the amount Windows won't "see". You won't live on 32-bit Lane forever.

price difference at least for ram kits between 2x1gb and 2x2gb is almost nothing:p

I've got a P35-DS3R Gigabyte mobo
It has 4 DIMM slots and supports up to 8GB's of DDR2.
