Does AMD get thrashed in BF3/civ V because of a lack of multithreaded rendering?

Define "thrashed"? Seems fine to me. Latest drivers have helped. ;)

AFAIK Battlefield 3 doesn't use multithreaded DX11 rendering, just Civ 5.

Seems Civ 5 is fine as well though. No thrashing to be seen, same or faster.

I was looking at the AT bench:

Maybe its out of date now.

You are also comparing a stock 7950 vs. the 670. 670 is a much faster card than a stock 7950 to begin with. Add older drivers in that bench and it's a blow-out. Without overclocking, the 670 is a much better card than an 800mhz 7950.

Xbitlabs just posted a review today. Latest drivers changed everything for HD7970 series:

Yeah, Repi confirmed that DX11 multithreaded rendering isn't used in BF3. In its current state, it apparently wasn't good for their use case

Go for it man.. its cheap, and grab a MSI TF3 7950 or Powercolor PCS+, both are excellent overclockers, and priced great.

A few minutes download, install and test OC, you have yourself a gtx680 and 7970 GE killer for ~$300. It even uses much less power than the 7970 as well, why bother paying more for the top tier.
