Does Adobe Flash 10 crash your browser a lot?

When I disable it, it works fine. But when I go to websites with complicated flash ads or tools it sometimes just crashes. I have win xp and Flash 10.

So I disable it again and viola! No more crashes on the exact same websites (its usually the stupid ads).

This means NO YOUTUBE however. 🙁

I havent found any solutions online, but one thing Ive figured out is increasing the cache size from 100kb to 1mb. But if you have lots of stupid flash ads (which is typical), you cant set it for every stupid company and every stupid ad. Its very fustrating.

Doesn't crash for me, although that could be because I only use FireFox.

I have FF installed but prefer IE just out of habit. Ive noticed more websites are being optimzed for mozilla.

1) Flash sucks.
2) IE sucks more.

So how do you get Youtube to work without flash? I was browsing some flights on AA.com and messing around with a tool for AAdvantage miles booking when the whole thing just threw up and shut down.

Pisses me off. :|

Have you tried a browser other than IE or FF?

You're not on a computer with limited access, are you? I've had problems with IE and Opera on portable versions of FF and Opera with flash plugins, but never Firefox at home.

Nope, and I hate experimenting. You think I should?

This is my desktop. I havent done a clean install since 2005 however. Maybe something somewhere is screwed up. I have a Vista install CD but havent used it. If I reformat I may just jump into Vista. Im still using a P4 3.2 (since it works for me, I havent felt the need to upgrade).

Use Firefox with flashblock. This way you allow ONLY what flash content you want. It also makes Rick Rolls obsolete. If you happen to be hitched to 20,000W worth of PA and click on something with sound it can give one a heart attack! :Q

It's probably a lazy person's answer, but I routinely reformat (like every 3 to 6 months) my computer just so I don't have to run maintenance for the increasing amount of programs and junk (yes, I clear cookies, temp files, defrag, etc etc anyway) that accumulates. Probably a good idea for you to to a reformat and clean install, though. XP is still good, though, and on a P4 it would run better.

I had a German Shepherd that did that. Any time an ambulance went by she let out a "woooooooooooh". I figured the siren just hurt her ears or something. She had all the neighborhood dogs doing it before long.

I think Im going to downgrade to Flash 9 first, and then try your idea next.

I always stay on top of maintenence with an old install like mine. I even use registry cleaners (double checked by MS Onecare), etc. So who knows.

Just install Chrome or Opera. Stop being such a fuddy duddy. If you're as smart as you really think you are, they're not that hard to use. LOL

Not a fresh install since 2005? IE gets crapped up over time fo'sho. I even did a fresh install of Vista just to fix random Opera hangups that simple opera-reinstalls never helped.

Ubuntu 8.10 + Opera 9.64 + Adobe Flash Player 10.0.22.87 crashes only on occasion, and Opera isn't even supported by Adobe (Linux: Mozilla, Firefox, SeaMonkey).
