Does acronis backup not work with external usb drive?

Just formatted my kingston hyperx drive in osx to a mac partition. Rebooted to have the system boot tocdrom. The ssd drive is connected to the external enclosure that came with the bundle. Problem is the acronis software doesnt recognise any drive mounted and reboots back to mac osx.

Any ideas? i also have bootcamp i want to backup and install to the ssd. I am using a 2011 imac. I dont want to rip open the imac and replace the primary hdd yet as i have no external enclosure for it to pull data from.
 
Nevermind i ripped it open and installed the little sucker. A little intimidating at first but all went well. Reinstalling mac osx as for some reason the bootcamp image was not picked up, but osx installation process saw the partition, perhaps the partition was not replicated to be a MBR.

Can't wait to see what everybody is raving about, I'm hoping to be blown away by how fast ssd is in real life performance. This time I'll make sure to install 64-bit Win 7 to fully take advantage of the 16gb of ram.

Just hope i dont run into any bsod issues arising from the sandforce controller, taking a leap of faith here.
