This is way off topic but what the H___....

Does anyone have a totally unbiased view on accupuncture?
Would it be any good in helping to reduce / eliminate snoring??
I've read some stuff on the net but am skeptical.
Also, It ain't cheap and my insurance doesn't cover it...

Any comments would be appreciated...

what else have you tried to reduce your snoring?

edit. accupuncture can work.
i hurt my shoulder in high school once, and my dad, a Medical Dr. did accupuncture. it relived the pain almost instantly.
the relief only lasted an hour or so, but i guess it gets more effective with repeat/regular treatments.
he just did it to show me it can work.

Unbiased? I try but duno if you take my word for it. My mom does acupunture. Personally I am a pre-med student so from my scientific perspective I have no clue how it work. But I've seen her get great results so I guess in the end thats all that matters. As for the snoring...I haven't asked her yet but I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

I've heard a lot of people who's had it say it works, and I can't remember anyone who's tried it say otherwise. I've had it done on me a long time ago, but I really can't remember the results, but I do remember that my symptoms weren't totally lessened. My input would be give it a shot, but don't expect miracles, just as with anything else.

The first time I saw it I was working at an animal hospital and it was done on a few dogs. You don't just tell an animal they should feel fine and they fake it like some people can, the results were amazing, that was pretty good proof for me.

Yeah, it can work. Now it's debatable just how much it can do for you, but it's certainly less harmfull than something like chiropractors (did that, screwed me up).

Tried an ENT? I'm being sent to an EMT about my snoring and it's covered under my insurance, I just had to get a recommendation from my regular MD

No idea about your issues.

However, it sure worked for my herniated neck disk . . . after TWO major whiplash accidents, I have NO further symptoms or pain (surgery was recommended but I chose acupuncture, instead).

I'd suggest you find a GOOD acupuncturist. They must be recommended highly (do NOT go to a MD who is trained in acupuncture!!!). (I found two teachers - one from red China; he helped at least 6 of my friends with various problems).

You should KNOW for certain if it will work or not after the 2nd treatment . . . 3 treatments at the MOST will tell you if you are wasting time and money. 😉

Thanks for the input. I will give it a try.

I wasn't sure what kind of feedback I would get here... being a tech forum... but I am pleased with the varoius viewpoints.

thanks again...

I go to acupuncture all the time, it really helps with all my neck, back and shoulder pain. It can cure almost anything.
