I have read that some boards allow you to update the bios from windows and i am wondering if you can do this with the abit nf7-s. I think i read the ASUS A7N8X Deluxe can do it?

i don't believe so, but i wouldn't do it even if you could. i was attempted to do a windows firmware upgrade for my samsung DVD/CDRW via the utility mtkwinflash when windows crashed. when i rebooted my drive would halt the bootup. the drive was so toast that it could not even eject the tray when i pushed the drive eject button! i had to start the computer to DOS without the drive connected, then with the computer on connect the IDE cable, then run mtkflash (the dos version). the firmware was upgraded and i got my DVD drive back.

moral of the story--go to DOS. with bootdisk.com available, why not? it is so much more safer dude.
