Does a VHF/FM amplifier amplify a cable signal?

I got a 10dB 50-450mhz four output amplifier at a thrift shop for $1. Will that work for cable or only broadcast?

Edit: Well it amplifies. I'm just scared to hook it up to the ATI AIW 8500 I just got from Craigslist.

Also, it seems to amplify much higher than 450mhz, as ALL my cable channels are amplified.

The frequency depends on the channel...

50 - 450MHz should work for channels to about 61, it looks like.

Is this thing safe to use or might it fry my TV? I have nothing to split right now. I just want to see if it works.

I tried it and it didn't do much . It did make the guide channel useable.
