Does a UPS exist that will allow you to turn the annoying beeping off or even better not have it to begin with?

I am about to buy a new UPS for my new server I'm b uilding but every UPS I've ever had and seen at work has that stupid beeping when power goes out (I work in an old building so we have power outages quite frequently) and all of them just seem to have the most annoying beep, at home I dont want it to beep at all, just flash a light or something.

Looking to spend no more than 200 bucks for this. Just need something to give me 10-20 mins of battery time.

Tell me about it, I have a Cyber Power one and used tons of APC's at work and never have found a way to turn the beeps off on any of them.

I've never used it, but I think my APC UPSes have a switch on the back to turn the alarm off.

Most of the good APC ups's have a row of dip switches in the back. These can be programmed to tell when if at all the speaker will go off.

Which model?

Some of the models have software which can turn it off at least temporarily.

just open it up and cut the wire to the speaker, that is what i had to do on a UPS in an office i worked

they didn't understand the beeping meant there was a problem, they wanted me to get rid of the UPS (they refused to fix the wiring), so i opened the cover and cut out the speaker

Haha Ive actually had to do the same thing at work, but I was looking for one that I wouldnt have to mess with in order to get that damn beeping off, somebody really should defaultly have the beeping turned off, absolutely no good comes from it.

I like the beep. It wakes me up at night when the power goes out so I know the clocks died.

If the better UPS' usually there is a dip switch.

You can unplug the speaker usually also (that is usually the recommended thing to do on non-switchable speakers).

Those beeps are annoying.

If you have an APC UPS and PowerChute just go into the options and select "never beep". That's what I've done with all my Back-UPS Pro's. Now none of them beep.
