Does a thermal pad work more than once?

I just got TaiSol HSF w/ a thermal pad on the bottom. I am going to overclock my Duron, but first I want to make sure it works w/o messing with anything(like unlocking it). So will I be able to put on the HSF(heatsinkfan), and then take it off, and then put it back on?

i got the boxed duron with the hs/f included and when i pulled it off to switch to a better fan, the stuff came off like bubble gum, leaving an empty square on the hs and unusable monkey crap on the cpu. Unlock it now, won't hurt your chip.

you mean I won't be able to take it off at all, w/o ruining the thermal pad? That doesn't sound right. Wonder if I had to change the processor sometime? Then I would have to get a new thermal pad/paste? Any other people have an experience w/ thermal pads.
