i got a sun keyboard for a few bucks the other day, but i don't have any sun machines. I was wondering if there is a sun miniDIN-8 to ps2 adapter/converter out there somewhere that ISN'T part of a $100-$500 KVM adapter, as that's a little out of my price range for a $3 keyboard.

once again, it's a sun keyboard that i want to plug into a ps2 port on a pc. i know there's many products out there for plugging a ps2 kbd into a sun machine.

thanks, any ideas or leads would be much appreciated!

DaTute--

it's the right family of object -- but instead of 5-pin DIN (AT) to 6-pin miniDIN (ps2), i need a 8-bin miniDIN (Sun kbd, also S-Video i believe) to 6-pin miniDIN (ps2).

even usb could work, i guess, but i'd prefer ps2.

it seems (after some google groups perusing) that such a beast doesn't exist. kind of a shame, although it's a good excuse for me to start looking for a cheap sun machine... thanks for your reply datute

I love that logic. Sounds like buying a car because you have a steering wheel that fits. :)

I have a "reverse" Y-adapter that indeed converts the single SUn keyboard connector to two PS/2 connectors (one keyboard and one mouse). However, I've only used it for an elaborate KVM configuration (Sun->PS/2->Cat5->Fiber->Cat5->PS/2->Sun, whew!). I *think* the Y-adapters were sold separately, but I've just never tried one of them alone to connect to a PC.

The KVM arrangement in question makes use of Cybex/Avocent LongView remote KVMs.
