Does a scratch like this buff/polish out?

Shoveling snow this weekend, I grazed the drivers door and left a mark. The car has 700 miles on the odo so I'm kind pissed at myself. 2009 WRX.

Any options other than a body shop?

Just touch it up, unless it's down to metal. Looks like you've still got primer there.

Don't feel bad, I was helping to dig out the car weekend, a brand new 09 Honda Civic that we've had for 5 days, and also hit it with a shovel. The odometer says 80km🙁.

Luckily! I wasn't shoveling when I hit it. I was trying to get the driver's attention while she was adjusting the position in a snow filled spot on the street. I stepped closer and forgot I had the shovel in my hand, so I bumped the rear, left door panel with the round, steel handle of the shovel. Initially, I freaked out cause I saw a really small, ball-point pen sized dark spot where I hit it. The next day, someone checked the car and said there was a needle sized dent. I checked it again today, and couldn't find it. To the best of my knowledge, I left a very small dent, that was 'dark' cause it was night causing a shadow.

buy a bottle of touchup from dealer, apply it with a needle and syringe. good luck

Can you feel it with your fingernail? Ive had some scratches put on my car that looked like that and it was through the clear, it just made the clear look all f'ed up like yours.

I would take it to a scratch repair place, basically they will fill it with touch up paint, top it with clear and polish it smooth.... will it be invisible? depends on the guy.

Anyone have any experience with touch up paint pens? Been looking around online and found a few places that have them.

I've used touch up paint before but the results were never good, whether applying with the huge brush that came with it or toothpick.

If I get it done professionally, how much should I expect to pay?

EDIT: To RGUN, yeah I can feel it. Kinda sucks, if it wasn't white around the edges, I wouldn't even care.

First off buy the touchup paint from your dealer, they should be able to perfectally match your cars color. If you get something aftermarket, I can almost gurantee it will not match.

It doesn't look like you're down to sheet metal or primer.

Go to any hardware store and pick up some rubbing and/or polishing compound and try to buff it out. Essentially it is just a "sandpaper" that you are using to take off the top layer of the clearcoat. Rubbing/polishing compound kicks ass, I'm always amazed at what it can get out.

You'd paint the entire door on a Subaru because of that? Dude, in 6 months you'll have another one and 6 months after that you'll have a couple more and a few door dings.

It's just a fucking car.

Honestly, I'd try a little paint cleaner followed by some glaze and wax.

No way I would paint the door. That's why I'm hoping I can make it look significantly better some other way.
