I have a SCSI adapter and need a drive for a basic box. But I do want this system to be quiet. Part of the reason why I stopped using SCSI was because of the noise. Any suggestions here?

Like Viper said. SCSI drives are built for performance first and then quietness. Actually it's reliability, performance, then ergonmics.

Check storagereview.com for noise ratings on SCSI drives.

It's a safe bet that the older 7200rpm SCSI drives'll be quiet.

FWIW I have storagereviews loudest, hottest SCSI drive, the 36GB Ultrastar Z15. It's fun :)

My case fans make more noise than my drives. I have 2 - 15k & 2 - 10k in my current system.
