does a picture on your desktop reduce performance measurably ?

well I've been thinking for a while about this, and my tests dont really show anything but I was a bit curious about other ppls experience.

If u place an image on your desktop does your performance decrease ?

It used to when we had 8 MB of system RAM and slow 2D video cards. It's no longer an issue.

Windows is not extremely fast at refreshing the background when you minimize windows, but CPU wise it does no harm. I think Windows uses low priority tasks to refresh mundane things like that.
