Does a PhoenixBios vs 4.05.8 have HD size limitations? 8 gig or less?

I am trying to find out if my PhoenixBios vs 4.05.8 has size limitations.

I have a new 17 gig drive, and a new 30 gig drive I want to try in this old p133. Both boxes are unopened, I could sell them or trade then easier if unopened :)

Is there a site that gives a chart showing this info?

Thanks all

Even if the bios doesn't support those drive and you can't flash it, the drives more than likely (if you got the boxed version) come with a driver that allow you to use the drives even if the bios doesn't officially support them.

Probably not. You'll need a drive overlay program, like EZ-BIOS (should come with your HD, or be downloadable from mfg's site)

Forget the overlay programs, they are not worth the hassle. Do your self a favor and get a PCI Controller. The card will support the larger drives AND it will support ATA66, a much better solution over the long term.

What controller would work?
These bypass all the bios limitations?

Cheap would be nice :)

Thanks

ComputerGeeks is selling a controller for about $10-$15.

I think BIOS chips dated after early 1998 should recognize the drive.
