Does a P3-500 Slot1 need a fan?

I have a P3-500 Slot1 processor that I am going to use to build a server from spare parts lying around. The P3-500 came without a fan, but a nice sized heatsink attached. Looks similar to the large heatsinks Dell used to put on their Slot 1 processors. Before installing everything, I want to verify that it is indeed alright to run this processor without a fan. Thanks!

I have one of these running without a fan, you just need to make sure proper case airflow is directed across the heatsink fins.

The old P3's didn't need their own fan, but there does need to be a fan near the heatsink. The stock fan was really small (< 40mm), so it just needs to have some constant airflow. If your case is gonna be kinda cool, I'd flip the rear exhaust fan into an intake, and use that to cool the CPU.

The air intake for the power supply will be positioned directly beside the processor. I also have room for another 80mm fan on the back directly behind the processor. The front of the case will have no fans.

Edit: Thanks guys for the answers.
