Does a MicroATX come with a I/O plate that will fit a ATX case?

Does a mATX MB come with both a mATX back plate and a plate for a regular ATX case?

Hope thats not stupid question. I have never used a mATX MB before.
 
mATX boards and IO shields will fit any regular ATX case.

It wouldn't have the ATX name applied if it didn't.

ATX case typically fit ATX, micro ATX and even mini ITX motherboards. They all have the same base screw holes, and the same I/O shield size.
 
Since it wasn't mentioned you might wonder what IS different between the ATX form factors.

It's all in the card slots (PCI/PCI-e) ATX has 7 slots, MicroATX has 3, MiniITX has 1.

Dimensions of the complete board are different to accomodate the smaller number of slots and are often shorter in the other direction as well.

He is wrong. What makes an ATX board an ATX board, and a mATX board a mATX board, and a mini-ITX board a mini-ITX board isn't slot count but physical PCB size. Slot count is dependent upon the physical real estate of the board....but has nothing to do with a board being ATX, mATX, mini-ITX, etc. It's all about the physical dimensions of the board/PCB itself.

ATX has a standard size of 12" × 9.6"

mATX has a standard size of 9.6" x 9.6"

mini-ITX has a standard size of 6.7" x 6.7"

Nowhere is slot count figured into whether a board is ATX, mATX, etc. All about physical dimensions of the board/PCB, pure and simple.
