Does a LCD dead/stuck pixel policy affect your buying decision?

Just curious, I was looking at getting a new monitor, and the policy for dead/stuck pixels can be really crappy from some places. The egg looks like they have a pretty crappy policy for this. Dell looks to be the best.

What are some other places you guys get your monitors from?

newegg's policy sucks, but I've bought 5 or 6 monitors there and never once had a problem.

Absolutely. I would never buy an LCD monitor (and by extension, laptop) online simply because of the dead/live/uneven backlight potential. Wound up paying a bit more for both my acer 22" and dell 24" locally, but well worth it. The acer was as perfect as a TN panel gets, but I went through 3 Dells before I got one I was willing to settle for (one had perfect uniformity, but a live pixel. one had absolutely awful backlight bleeding in a few areas. the third had ok backlight bleeding, ok uniformity and no dead pixels).

Yes, it makes me think twice about buying any monitor from newegg, even though I buy most other parts there.

I always pay for the pixel check fee (which is not much) when I order a LCD monitor online, worth the price for hassle and peace of mind, too bad only a few companies online offer that service.

Same here. It's always bothered me that an otherwise terrific company like Newegg has such a crappy policy regarding LCDs. I don't like the idea of purchases involving several hundred dollars being reduced to a crapshoot.

The manufacturers policy is the bottom line for me. If they won't stand behind their product I don't need it. Vendor policy is often a reflection of that.

I won't buy an LCD without a no questions asked return policy for at least 15 days, period. There are way too many variables/quality issues with LCDs these days to not have some sort of safely net.

The store overhead is acceptable IMO as with online purchases you'll find yourself paying $$ for return shipping plus the next shipment is not guaranteed to work.

Some etailers even pay for return shipping like Tech4Less.
