Does a KVM switch degrade/limit the video signal? Which KVM switch to get?

I'm wondering...

I have a dual-input monitor, which I utilize for two computers, but the switching of keyboards/mice really makes it a pain in the butt and is the main reason why I don't use the second computer very much.
Also, whenever I build/test a PC, I have to unplug everything from the secondary system. I'm thinking that a KVM switch would definitely be a convenient little tool to have.
My first question is whether or not a KVM switch will degrade the video quality or perhaps limit a monitor's resolution... I run my monitor at 1920x1200, which is its recommended resolution, and I don't want to use anything other than that.

My second question is which KVM switch would be good...I don't really need anything more than a 4-port at this point. Any suggestions?

If your monitor is dual input, put the primary input to your main pc and the secondary to your kvm. That way if there are any signal quality issues at least your primary will be top notch.

Good advice. Thanks.

spankyOO7,

That one seems pretty good. Cheap too...

Doesn't meet my requirements but still very nice. I guess I'll just have to end up getting one of these switches and a decent 19" monitor for testing purposes.

I use a Linksys KVM at work, seems to be real stable, and not degrade the video signal. I highly recommend
