Folks...Im still running an old Viewsonic Professional P225 CRT 4:3 monitor with my PC setup...I've always been hesitant to jump on the LCD band wagon due to the inferior gaming speed and accurate color gamuts that most LCD's have

My question is, has there been enough advancement in technology for me to now replace my clunky 21" CRT monitor and get a Widescreen LCD that includes a TV Tuner so I can simply screw my RG6 cable right in the back and tune in all broadcast digital TV AND still get a world class PC Monitor that has solid gaming performance ( Low lag) AND good Black Levels/Color reproduction for Photo Editing and everyday PC application work?

Does 1 single monitor like this exist yet?

Im looking for either 24" or 26" if possible so I can put it right on my desk

thanks

probably not. monitors with TV tuners are rare, and all the ones i've seen are TN panels.

you're going to have to pick the most important criteria and go from there. there are S- and E-IPS monitors that would be decent for gaming and of course good with color reproduction, but you're not gonna get a tuner.

Nope. Best bet is go with a graphics monitor, be satisfied with refresh rate and buy a tv tuner for your PC.

i don't normally preach the evils of TN panels, but professional photo editing is one of the cases that warrants a nice panel with a full color spectrum. i don't know how serious the OP is, though, and he doesn't list a budget, so that may well be a solution for him.

is a TN panel that bad? for the price the T240HD seems like a stellar LCD w/ tv tuner. My past 2 lcds have been TN panels i think they look great. dont even notice any probs w/ viewing angles.

Another vote for the TV tuner in the PC if you are getting OTA anyway. You can get excellent cards under $100 which is close to the premium I see for a TV tuner in the screen and you get DVR and program functionality via Media Center. Finding a satisfying monitor is more problematic because the fast game response (TN panel) tend to conflict with the accurate colors (PVA and IPS). The 24" Dell 2008WPF (I have the 2405, it is both my computer monitor and my TV) is nice, but I am not sure whether lag is a problem (I don't game). The zero bright pixel guarantee is nice, they are often available around $400.

Yes, they are that bad when pro video editing comes into the equation. They are fine for games which is why you think they look great.

Are the better LCDs now finally comparable with CRTs in terms of gaming Framerates/Lag and Color accuracy and gamuts?

Im wondering if I should wait longer

whats the best for both right now?

I could be wrong but I swear I've heard that the T240HD has a lot of input lag.

If that's the case, it is no good for games and being a TN panel, no good for color reproduction.

Yep. Not a bad price for a monitor with a tuner, but it's not what the OP is looking for.

Of course, if it didn't have a tuner, it would be a laggy piece of crap at any price. Since you can buy a tuner separately for any monitor, the only thing the T240HD has going for it is the price.
