Does a forum login not work for article comments?

Hi my forum login seems to work fine for the forum but I can't seem to post a comment about an article on the main website. Is a separate account required?
 
Correct, you need separate logins for the site and the forums.

The two were once integrated long ago, but we disintegrated them almost a decade ago.
