Does a computer = a heater?

Assuming the components of a computer consume 300 watts, does that mean that this computer will generate as much heat as a 300 watts heater?

if the normal components are drawing 300W, it will put out about 400W of heat, as the psu is usually 60-80% efficient. if the whole system is drawing 300W, it is putting out the same amount of heat as a 300W heater. so yet, a computer = a heater. but than again, so does a lightbulb, a tv, a stereo... even an air conditioner or a fridge!

lol, Denis - heat energy lost through electronics (computer systems) is one of the most overlooked sources of energy waste.

I don't think the total wattage pulled equals the heat. And no power supply ever pulls it's max. It depends on how fast your system is.

My comp uses about 200 watts so the power supply only pulls that much, even though it support 350 watts at maximum.
