Does a CD/DVD-writer with 8MB cache write cd-r discs better then a 2MB drive?! Read why..

Hi,

Somewhere online I did read following:

"Agreed, but an 8MB buffer does make a difference. Not when burning a DVD at 8x since that requires a constant data stream of more than 10MB/s and no buffer is able to compete against that in case of a buffer underrun. However, a larger buffer size does make a difference when recording CDs. My Plextor Premium drive (8MB buffer) burns CDs more smoothly when compared to the PX-708A which buffer is constantly fluctuating (75%~95%). It doesn't take much for the drive's BURN-Proof to kick in."

Does that mean that a CD/DVD-writer with an 8MB cache writes cd-r discs better then a drive with 2MB cache or is the above statement not correct?! I would really like to knokw this once and for all! Please also explain why yes or no? And what about writing DVD's. I noticed that the Plextor PX712 have 8MB I believe, is there a reason for this?!

Thanks very much for all good feedback!!
