I was considering upgrading to a 120 meg superdisk drive for my new Pc and was wondering if anyone knows if it connects to your FDD port on your mobo or through the IDE? What about Zip drives? Thanks.

no, LS120 "SuperDisk" is IDE... Zip is mostly IDE, though can get them in scsi... for some strange reason.

the only thing that runs off floppy controllers..... are old floppies... :)

The internal Superdisk 120MB floppy is connected through the IDE port. External Superdisk can either be USB or parallel port.

Internal Zip Drive are either SCSI or IDE. External Zip can be SCSI, USB or parallel port.

Avoid the parallel port drives in either case.

I have one IDE superdisk that replaces the floppy. The superdisk is a wonderful replacement, quiet, gentle and fast.

I have SCSI zip drives on both of my computers. It is fast and reliable. The zip drive has a much larger installed base. If you need to exchange data with someone, it is the way to go.

4824guy,

No special software is required. It is similar to a Zip drive - as long as your BIOS knows about it, so will Windows. You can just drag and drop files to it directly, without any third-party tools (like Nero for CDRW)
