Does 8500GT have the same HD decoding as 8600?

I haven't been able to find any reviews on the 8500 in those areas just yet . . . Anand only did the 8600.

I can find a passive 8500 easy . . . 8600 not so much. 😉
 
Looking for the same thing. From what I can see, as far as video processing power goes 8500=8600. What I am not sure of is the whole HDCP thing. I think (correct me if Im wrong) the 8600GTS has HDCP natively(nvidoa), but anything lower its up to the board vendor to add support..

What I want is a 8000 series board, cheap as possible with HDCP for my HTPC.. 3d performance means 0 to me.

there are passive 8600gtses by MSI.


since the 8600gt uses up even less power, i'd assume passive 8600s will be out sooon too.
