Does 802.11g provide a stronger signal

i am trying to get a signal in my basement since i dont get one with the b router.

i tought maybe a new router might help.

no. Change the antenna placement/orientation on either end, move things around, install a directional antenna if possible. don't expect a g router to cure a no-signal situation.

No and if you are at a point there is no signal it will not help to switch to 802.11g

However if there is a signal that it is no-functional with 802.11b, 802.11g might help.

Example: If the 802.11b is at 0.5Mb/sec. it not really functional. But at the same situation 802.11g might provide 1.5Mb/sec. and thus good enough for Internet surfing.
