Does 2nd SDD need to be aligned?

First SSD is working perfect. It is aligned correctly with windows 7. Today I installed my second SSD into the computer. Does this one get aligned as well? I did a quick format, but it is not aligned.

I think all of your SSDs need to have aligned partitions to function at maximum speed.

alignment makes sure that logical sectors align with the physical sectors on the actual SSD. For max speed, it needs to be aligned.

yes the alignment goes away.

@OP if you are installing windows 7 on a raid 0 ssd array then you do not need to align them.
say what you want about alignment, but windows 7 is good to go. If you want, I'll even show you what I get with 2x30g ocz vertex, the slowest of the vertex series on windows 7 no alignment.

Hiya,

Not doing it on a Raid 0. I ordered one of the intel x-25 80 gb yesterday to be my main OS and the two supertalent drives as spare drives in the computer.

Currently I had the one SSD installed with windows 7. When I installed the second SSD it did not align it for me, when I format it the drive was not aligned at all.

full vs quick format does not matter.
did you create the partition on it using windows 7?

how do you know that?

Damn it, I need to re-install windows then. I aligned the SSD I have under my previous install of windows on a mechanical drive, then I formatted the drive with windows setup before installing. I wish I had asked this sooner. I'm using windows 7 though, is it true that I don't need to align it?

I went into Diskpart and checked. Disk 0 shows the partition while disk 1 does not.
