Does 2ms vs 5ms response timing really matter?

I'm wondering because I'm trying to find the best 22" LCD for my uses. Does anyone notice any difference in gaming, especially with competitive multiplayer online FPS's such as Counter-strike with the different response times? Would it be safe for me to go with a 5ms monitor and get pretty much the same gaming experience? Thanks.

Just keep in mind some 5 ms monitors actually reach 30 ms for most transitions. If it were real 2 vs 5, there'd be nothing noticeable.

"5 ms" tends, for some reason, to mean: no overdrive. So basically you get 20 ms for TNs, 30-40 for IPSs, 30-60 for PVAs. The only "5 ms" exception I know of is the Planar PX2611W which does have overdrive and performs very well. "2 ms" usually means it has an aggressive overdrive, resulting in 10 ms transitions.

2ms is only for Gray to gray colour changes, on my 2ms monitor colours like orange to green are more like 12-15ms

i only notice it when for example my steam window gets dragged really quickly across the screen as the text becomes blurry on counter strike its not noticable at all
