does 133 bus speed mean its really 266?

my motherboard is a 266mhrz bus speed, and the way its set now its at 133, my freind told me that was normal, but my other friend told me im only running at half my potential speed, if it isnt normal, how would i set it so that its at 266?

I am assumung that you have an Athlon. The actual bus speed runs at 133MHz but since the bus is double pumped, meaning that data is transfered on the rise and fall of a clock cycle the effective transfer rate is equivalent to a 266MHz bus. Hence it is reffered to a 266MHz bus
