You do not say what os you are using or at what point the installation fails. Your printer appears to be an old model, there is a review for it dated 12-99. It also seems to use the Lexmark Z-11 drivers.

well, i a using xp pro

i am not trying to install anything, the printer was abandoned because the person who had it couldn't work out how to reinstall the drivers, i have the drivers, they are installed fine, but it's the firmware thats giving trouble.

it seems someone has tried to update it and it's failed

i think that the firmware is updated using a compact flash card which i have, but i have no idea where to get the firmware or how to flash it onto the printer.
