Shut my Denon 3313 off and went to bed.

The next morning, my TV was getting no signal from it. Tried different devices, switched inputs on TV, replaced HDMI cable. The Denon menu would display but nothing else. But if I selected "Set Up Assistant" from the menu I heard a loud click and lost the signal.

Ran HDMI direct from computer and cable box to TV and both worked. Crud, I've only had this AVR about 3 years and now I need another?

On a whim I unplugged it for 20 minutes. Plugged it back in and it was working again! Hopefully it's not a sign of what's to come.

My 3311Ci is still working just fine. And my 13 year old Pioneer VSX-45TX is, too. And the Yamaha HTIB receiver from 2000 I got open box as well.

These newer receivers run so much software they are closer to computers than mechanical solid state amplifiers. Had a 1999 and a 2007 era Yamaha. Never had to do anything special. Recently replaced it with a 2015 Marantz. It's gone through 3 updates with one more due for DTS-X. I already had to do a soft reset 3 times to have it detect my USB stick full of music.

By the way, I also recently found out that HDMI-CEC can go a little goofy if a shielded, grounded LAN cable isn't making a full connection (from a broken locking tab) to one of your devices connected to the receiver. Found this out with my PS4. Luckily that's all it was.

Didn't dodge the bullet. :(

My Denon (can't recall model right now) quit working like 4 months ago. One day worked, next day pressed power button...nothing. No storms, on a surge protector with other stuff, nothing else affected. Haven't replaced yet, didn't really like the 'tone' of music out of the Denon. Wish I had just kept my old Onkyo from several years ago. Not sure what to get next.
