So, what do you people think about the Dodge Stealth?
I'm thinking about buying two trashed ones and fix um up...

Depends, are they the Twin Turbo versions?

As a sportscar, they're heavy and kind sluggish - but with that TT, they got some power!

they are nice cars, even if they aren't turbo the DOVHC Stealth RTs are sweet, and you don't have to worry about the expensive turbo

I'd love to have one! One of the nicest, coolest designs in a relatively inexpensive sports car ever, IMO.

They share platforms with the 300GT, they're essentially the same car with some minor cosmetic differences & a different label.

Personally I think they're gorgeous cars, I'd love to have one.

Not 100% sure, but I think they are front-wheel drive:(. For me, that really prohibits me from calling it a true sports car, fast as it may be.

I mean, it's still fine for all normal driving, and yes, it's a pretty car... But fish-tailing those rear wheels around a turn is just so much fun:p

I thought there were AWD models of either the Stealth of 3000GT. I've thought about getting one, mainly because I like they way they look. They are underpowered for their weight from what I've heard, but I plan on researching them a little more. Compared to what I drive now though, anything could be considered a sports car. :)

Here's a FAQ for those interested

Edit: The VR-4 certainly doesn't sound underpowered from what I'm reading. 0-60 in 5.4, not too shabby.

hehe, i drive one :D

ive got a basic 90 or 91 model. its got about 180k miles on it, but its still smooth! if the engine dies, my dad said that he would replace the engine. the body is in very good condition, i just want to get it repainted, but my dad flips out whenever i mention it. would a clearcoat restore the glow to the paint? is maaco bad painters?

I know for sure one of them is an AWD and the other is an R/T model. I can also get my hands on a nice '95 3000GT VR-4 for 8,000... Needs a new nose and right-side door. Engine is said to be mint.

I'm now seriously considering a VR-4. They seem to be running anywhere from $15-25K depending on year and mileage. There are AWD models, which is partially what appeals to me.

Where have you found a VR-4 for $8K??? I'd think even with body damage it'd cost more than that. :Q

Nice cars but I always prefer the look of a 300ZX. Even the '90 300ZX's - if kept in good condition - look like they just came off the showroom, ie, they don't look like a 10-year old design. They cover many price ranges and $15k would put you in the seat of one with the Twin-Turbo. Absolutely beautiful cars and some performance to back up the looks.

A friend of mine just bought a bright red one with 49K miles for $10,500! He owns a car stereo shop and is totally pimping it out. And, damn he just turned 23!

EDIT: I forgot to mention it is 96, 3000GT.

!!!!! 11k?!?!?!?!?!?!

GOD DAMN!!!!!

i saw in an ad a '93 stealth with a new engine with 21k, but the car itself had 145k. body was in perfect condition with clear background, two owners, a decked out stereo, and perfect paint with perfect running condition and no damage at all. $9k. my pops said it was too much, which i agree on.

My friend has a VR-4 (95 I think). Don't underestimate these things. They aren't the nimblest cars around but they can haul ass if they want to, especially with larger turbo's.

He got it for 9k (65k miles). It was a salvage title though, and needed a whole new front bumper, but that was it. Still, not bad if you don't plan on selling it later on.

The AWD versions have some really bad tranmission(Or was it the transfer case?) problems, so check to see if any work there has been done..
