did a search, came up with nothing.. so i thought i'd share.

link

optional 24" wheels, V10 viper engine, 1/4 in 12.9sec.... for 20k less than a viper and it actually looks good at the same time.
i'd take it. Sure beats the hell out of the M80

I would kill for one, but I have to question whether or not it will make it to production.

$20K less than a Viper is a $50,000 Ram, how many do you think they'll sell?

This thing is a beast, but keep in mind that Vipers require routine maintenance that a whole lot more onerous and costly than, say, an F-150 Lightning, making this truck extremely expensive to drive even when compared to other cars in its price range. I would probably rather have a Lightning, all things considered.

Umm, this is about 3 months old. Dodge has already committed to producing the SRT-10 for next year.

<< It was obvious that something was being ?built? in the big red toolbox, and with a loud engine roar, the side opened and out came one of the first products of PVO?a Dodge Ram SRT-10.

Designed to be at the top of the sport truck market, this Ram sports the 8.3-liter V10 engine from the Viper, pumping out 500 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. This truck reaches 60 mph in a mere five seconds, and has a top speed of 150 mph.

Although just a show truck, it will go into production, and very little will be lost from the concept, Schroer promised. The Ram SRT-10 is expected to go on sale sometime next year.

Not quite, Stock lightnings make 360HP, and 400sum ft/lbs torque.

With the 20k difference between the two vehicles, you could certainly soup the shyt out of the lightning. It would piss all over that ram.
>>

It would still be a Lightning, just like the Civic would still be a Civic.

Don't get me wrong, I love Lightnings. But the Ram SRT-10 is in a whole different class.

Exactly. The F-150 is based on an old-ass platform that dates back to '96. The Ram is based on a new chassis (introduced for '01) with updated suspension tuning and structural rigidity. Everything about the SRT-10 is new. The Lightning is old bones now. The truck industry is moving rapidly now. Ther F-150 is now the oldest full-size platform on the market.

Its still a dodge.

;)

I would not pay 50k for something like that. And it would be a total bitch to get off the line :)

Yea - by the time the SRT actually stops burning out the L would have owned it :D

What's the point of bringing up how old it is? It's just one big cycle - when Ford brings out their new F-series you're going to complain that the Silverado is now on an old-ass platform compared to the Dodge and Ford, etc etc. If it was really that outdated it would be outsold left and right by both Chevy and Dodge but it's not by either one.

Actually, the Silverado and Sierra combined outsold the F Series for the first time since 1995 in '01.

Also, these performance trucks are supposed to be the pinnacle of the lineup showcasing all of their performance efforts and technology. The Lighting is simply outclassed in this department powertrain and suspension wise.

As far as stock pickups go, the SRT-10 is the baddest truck on the planet...PERIOD

Personally, i'd like to see how fast the Avalanche 2500 with the 8.1L V8 (340hp/455lb.ft.) is... with all that plastic the truck must be pretty light! ;) At least the 4WD would make it easier to launch.

No actually it's not... learn about vehicles and in 10 or so years I'll walk you through an explanation... wisper... compression.... smaller pulley.... fifty dollars

but until then lets talk functionality with the Harly Davidson Edition and the Silverado SS the SRT is pretty lame, Reguler cab's were cool in the teenage years but after you get all grown up they are pretty worthless. Hey honey lets take the kids boating, you take your car and the kids and I'll meet you there.
