Totally agreed there. So many fucking irresponsible dog owners. Way too many people paying tons of money for a puppy when there are shelters overflowing with adult (and usually trained) dogs that can be adopted for a small fee.

I will never get a puppy. Our current dog (a boxer) is easily the best dog I've ever known, a former puppy factory whose owners didn't want her back after the rescue spayed her. Our next dog will be from a shelter too (probably another boxer, heh).

My personal opinion is that unless you are a breeder (one licensed with the state or whatever, not a yokel in a trailer who says he's a "breeder"), your pets should be spayed/neutered by law. Period.

Agreed, and breeding cats should be flat out illegal. I think the situation with dogs isn't quite as black & white (service dogs obviously need to be bred for certain characteristics for example) but I would never get a pet from anywhere other than a shelter/rescue/off the street.

Why should breeding cats be illegal?
