This, I'm really surprised they stay financed. I don't know anyone that donates to them, and (many) people I know that used to support them with donations stopped years ago. This organization is seriously messed up.

Lots of celebrities donate to and support PETA. Lots of celebrities also donate to and support the "church" of L. Ron Hubbard, so that just goes to show that a fool and his money...

My interest in PETA goes as far as their naked women ads. I could care less about the rest.

PETA is one of the worst things to happen for people that truly care about helping prevent animal cruelty. They are all about sensationalist stunts designed to get free media attention to their cause but they are so radical they scare away a lot of people who would otherwise support things like tightening regulation of factory animal farming, puppy mills, poaching of endangered species etc. That said Rick Berman is no better. He is a real life Nick Naylor. Anything that comes out of one of his "Centers" I will take with a grain of salt until I see it verified by other sources.

This article is horrible. Political nonsense trying to tear at peoples hearts.

My GF worked at a county humane shelter for 2 years as their office manager. I dreaded Tuesdays and Thursdays because there was a good chance I was coming home to her balling her eyes out. Euthanasia day was horrible for every single person working at that shelter. I can't imagine how gut-wrenching it would be to work at a facility like that where that is pretty much their only jobs.

Fuck anyone who supports this mudslinging. Go adopt a fucking animal or fix your fucking pet if you conscience is so pulled by this article.

We live in a sick sad world where political "advocacy" groups get away with attacking people who are forced to do the "tough" jobs in our society.

o_O PETA is the one who does the attacking. They attack animal shelters, and make lots of propaganda against killing animals, while they themselves do the same damn thing.

I in no way support PETA but the fact is that SOMEONE has to put these animals down humanely. The article mentioned some astronomical number of animals killed in the shelter daily.

Take a step back and try to use some fucking reason for once in your life and imagine what your town would be like if those hundreds of thousand animals were just running around your town.

People are irresponsible fucks who allow their animals to pump out tons of litters that just end up not being cared for and running wild and then people like you have the audacity to attack someone for having to deal with the situation.

The mall in the area we were living in had a feral cat issue that they one day decided to deal with.. That meant they trapped 37 cats and something like 15 kittens and brought them to the humane shelter. That was their solution.
Guess who ended up dealing with that...
My GF only worked the front office and didn't have any hand in the euthanasia other than dealing with the paperwork and let me assure you it was a horrible taxing experience the day they had to deal with the 50+ feral cats that no one wanted.

No shit someone has to do that. The point of the article is the hypocrisy of PETA that foams at the mouth when people eat animals. You know, people eating is every bit as necessary as humanely killing millions of dogs and cats each year. o_O

I dislike PETA, but I really don't see anything bizarre with this--well, despite what they say, these animals will have to be killed.

Not sure if they focused more on actually finding homes for these animals rather than taking photos of hot naked ladies wrapped in cellophane, or bloody Natalie Portman in a public restroom, would actually better serve their goals of adopting these animals out--maybe it would.

But I think the reality is that it is simply impossible to care for all of them or find homes for them. I think the worst of it is that it doesn't really reflect the face that they like to portray. As long as it's done humanely, fine. tossing in a dumpster though...

It's groups like PETA that make animal lovers look like lunatics in the eyes of everyone else. They're less concerned with actual animal rights than protesting the abuses of Mario wearing a raccoon tail to fly.

I put them on the same level as Greenpeace when it comes to the organizations actions and actual desires, and their effects on the perception of those who generally support the base cause.

wait--you mean these dogs and cats are just meat gone to waste, because PETA would rather kill them than have them eaten?

:hmm:

(I know, I'm stretching--but I don't think this really applies to their anti-meat crusade)

No fuck that. You are just drinking the kool-aid. Part of being a "Person for the ETHICAL TREATMENT OF animals" has to be about dealing with the rampant overpopulation of stray and feral cats and dogs.

Again, like I said to the last fuck, imagine the hundreds of thousand of cats and dogs running around your fucking neighborhood.

PETA, I am sure, is not a one trick pony. They have a lot of causes that they support and looking at this article with out the sensationalist yellow journalism spin it looks like they provide a HUGE service for our country.

I used to be very anti-PETA because some of their policies, but I give the a HUGE thumbs up for this.

Follow your own advice. Are you really so stupid that you don't see the hypocrisy of PETA. PETA protests against animal shelters who put down animals, yet they do the same thing.

PETA is against putting down animals. They have protested against it hundreds of times, yet they do the same thing.

So they're for the ethical killing of animals as long as no one eats the meat or wears the skin? If you kill the animal humanely and throw the entire thing away, you've done a good thing; if you use ANY part of it, you're an inhuman monster. How is that logical?

Funny. It took google 0.36 seconds to prove you fucking wrong:

Make sure you got facts to back yourself up before making ridiculous claims.

PETA would, and has called her a murderer.

Here you go you fucking re-re, since I know you aren't going to read the link.

Quote: PETA, The American Veterinary Medical Association, and The Humane Society of the United States concur that an intravenous injection of sodium pentobarbital administered by a trained professional is the kindest, most compassionate method of euthanizing animals.

Like I said, since you won't read it anyway:
Until dog and cat overpopulation is brought under control through spaying and neutering, we must prevent the suffering of unwanted animals in the most responsible and humane way possible. Euthanasia, performed properly, is often the most compassionate option.
