link - Check out the 1:40+ mark where the guy in the video says in effect that you should be able to carry your character over from Mass Effect 1 to Mass Effect 2 and the decisions that you make in ME1 and the DLC will carry over to ME2.

Video has some footage of some upcoming DLC too.

So will the characters import over will all the tricked out stats and skills and then start at that level? That will be some seriously high level and powerful characters by the end of the game.

I find it hard to believe, but it sounds like the choices you made in the first game really are going to carry over into the second one. I wonder to what extent those choices will affect the game. Just some cutscenes? Available party characters? Regardless, it sounds pretty cool.

Maybe having four characters from ME1 will payoff. 😛

I remember the first game had really different endings. Are they going to pick one as canon?

Mmmm... Mass Effect 2. I don't care if they make me play as a Prothean circus midget, I just want more Mass Effect.

It would probably be a huge PITA to write a whole plot for each different ending so I would say yes.

Well, the endings werent that different...either the council is still alive or not, and you had a choice of who to install to the council. Those are pretty reasonable boundaries to work within. ME wasnt like fallout where you could be good or evil - you were really always good in the end, you just had a choice to take the high road or the low road to get there.

I read this somewhere already, i imagine the missions will differ slightly, so if you let the rachnai queen go you will probably encounter rachnai in ME2, if you killed it then... well i dunno what you will encounter. I hope it applies to decisions like that made throughout the game and not just the ending decision. I killed the council and appointed the diplomat guy as leader, he had a cool ending speech.

I'm getting pumped to play ME. I'm still trying to finish up my second play-through of Fallout 3. I've never played it, but bought the Platinum Hits last week. Sounds like the developers have put some thought behind integrating the games.
