Doctors are just as retarded as politicians. It takes literally years to get them to treat anything. My girlfriend can't get ADHD medication even though she obviously has attention and memory problems. Doctors also refused to give prescription pain killers to my dad after a failed root canal so he could at least tolerate the pain for a couple days when the root canal could be fixed and all of the nerves removed. As a result, he had to get that tooth pulled out because the pain was unbearable. Fucking doctors are scum.

The reason for both of those issues is likely the government. Most ADHD medicine is HIGHLY controlled. Right now there is an adderall shortage because the .gov only allows X amount to be made per year and they undershot the estimated demand. Prescription pain killers are also controlled substances and the .gov has been going after more and more doctors lately because of a relative few doctors running "pill mills".

The last thing a doctor wants is to be on the .govs radar for prescribing "too many" controlled substances.

You are blaming the wrong group of people.

"There's going to be a shortage of doctors in this country!"

What do they know that we don't know - since THEY'RE the ones who determine exactly how many doctors there are in this country? There are many qualified, 4.0 major students who cannot get into medical school because the numbers are limited.

The whining will be universal when many people who wanted to become doctors decide to choose different professions.

I agree. Many people spend 10-14 years in school, have $250K student loans, not to mention loss of income and loss of opportunity during those 10-14 years, and they deserve to be compensated at a very high rate of pay. Helping people is only a small part of the reward. There needs to be financial incentive.

I will answer your questions when you answer the one I asked first:
What country are American doctors are going to move to?

They dont go to other countries idiot. They get MBAs/JDs/finance degrees and work in other fields.

Like where? Every sane country spends half of what we spend, and gets better care. Oh yeah, they have higher taxes too. So half the dough, and more taxes to boot. Don't let the door kick you on the way out. :)

Have you ever had to have care abroad? I have... It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't anywhere near as accessible as my care is here in the US. Add to that countries that are using medical/surgical procedures that date back a couple of decades and you start to figure out just why it is "cheaper" anywhere else.

I'll take our hybrid system of private/public in the US any day of the week versus what I experienced in the UK and France.

So, the doctors will move to a country that has "free" healthcare and pays their doctors less than they make here?

a doctor thats a cut above everyone else will likely have their own private practice and cater to the likes of the 1%'ers who are willing to fork over a boatload of money to save their lives.

the caliber of doctor that someone would have a private jet pick them up to have available their services. the caliber of doctor that would be treating a head of state.

What I find odd about your statement is most of the people in those countries you experienced wouldn't trade their care for ours any day of the week.

Germany, UK, or France would likely have paying customers. (All in G7)

So US doctors are going to uproot their families, and move to foreign countries where they will be paid 30-50% less, be taxed 30-50% more because of Obama-care? And we are supposed to believe both this claim and the claim that they are the brightest? :)

Oh, BTW, these are physician rates before all these US doctors show up, driving prices into the gutter.

Those doctors that you speak of would have no reason to leave here. They can get that here.

Again, I know plenty of practices that refuse medicare.

Do you work in the medical industry?

yea, there are doctors like that. some build their own hospitals or clinics too. often with money form tax payers.

easy to solve, take Medicare patients or lose their license.

Doctors serve at our pleasure.

No need for this. Doctors know what would happen to the medical field without Medicare. It's not a choice between having Medicare pay $200 and having that Senior's private insurance pay $800. It's a choice between having Medicare pay $200, and having that senior pay nothing.

Really? We elected them doctors? We paid for all of their tuition? Until we make them all public employees, your statement is at best short sighted.

Usually it's the other way around. People don't want "good" doctors. They want friendly doctors. The best doctor I've ever seen was a bit of a pill pusher; he gave me over a year supply of my medication whereas every other doctor would only give 3 months worth. My parents hate that doctor because he's "cold" or whatever. He doesn't ask about your feelings or how your cat is doing. I said I wanted my prescription refilled, he gave me a new prescription, he didn't ask how I was feeling, and that was the end of it. Straight and to the point.

The most successful doctor is the one who sucks at his job but cries with you as you slowly die.

Let me refine that for you...

"What I find odd about your statement is most of the people in those countries you experienced wouldn't PAY FOR THEIR CARE any day of the week."

It is called entitlement for a reason.

yes, if you're an all-star, you would command an all-star compensation package. would obamacare put a 'cap' on how much a doctor can earn? i doubt it, its all what individuals/ins companies are willing to pay. check out post #39.

True, more civilized countries feel it's wrong to profit from the sick and injured.

Ha HA like it matters what doctors say. Farmers said for decades that hemp is much better than cotton, but we still have these outrageous laws banning hemp farming and thereby mandating the use (waste) of millions of gallons of petroleum in unneeded pesticides to protect a cotton crop that should never have been planted in the first place. Cost? well you do the math on 100 million gallons of any petroleum product. It's obviously at least half a billion dollars. Every year, mass madness. But it wont stop. Because Ron Paul is a frickin kook that's why! People are so unbelievably stupid it boggles the mind. US population suffers from mass psychosis.

The fact that we wont elect someone as unimpeachable as a Ron Paul, but we will keep sending all this scum and filth back to washington every 2 or 6 years is clear proof that our very souls are captured by these villains.
