Edit: I think this kind of stuff is great and can lead to great advances in the future, I have nothing against helping increase life or helping one's live a normal life.

the article says there's no proof that stem cells had anything to do with the growth.

at what point does "stem cell research" become the "baby eating" of cannibalistic legend... ie the sacrifice of youth for the prolongment of life?

Wow, that is impressive!
I wouldn't mind seeing a picture of the poor fellow, to get an idea of how extensive the rebuilding has been. It sounds very interesting.

It doesn't. It's just ignorance coming from people who oppose stem-cell research.

kinda sounds like apples and oranges.

I don't think you can compare what is being done today with science, with what voodoo and witch doctors did centuries ago with magic.

it's pretty cool, but I would hope you're a little more politically aware than that. Bush isn't opposed to stem cell research. From what I gather, he's opposed to killing babies (abortion) to provide the stem cells.

a growth chemical and the patient's own bone marrow, containing stem cells, to create a new jaw bone

Heck if stem cells can be obtained from bone marrow, why not? Why can't researchers just use donators bone marrow for stem cell research?

This is great, it'll be wonderful to see more advancements in the field in the future as religion grows less prevalent

because embryonic stem cells show more versatility, whereas adult stem cells tend to be more limited in what they can become, however, researchers are using adult stem cells, but embryonic show more promise
