Doctor question...

If you have a somewhat serious condition... say a broken bone or something, or perhaps some other condition... and you go to one doctor... they don't find it, or they say it isn't serious... and then say you go to another doctor and you find out that it was much more serious, say life threatening, etc. Or say you wind up dying from it because it went untreated.

Would the first doctor be held liable for anything regarding your condition? I'm just curious... no real point to the question. Seems like they should be somewhat accountable for not finding it. Would you at least be able to get your money back from them for when you went and he couldnt find it?

Yeah, I think there's been lawsuits over this. I'm sure lawyers can twist something a doctor did or didn't do into negligence and then you have a case.

That's what I would think... but I haven't really heard anything like this happening (at least not that I can recall off the top of my head)...

I just got to thinking about how you hear people saying they went to a doctor and they said they were fine, and then they went to another and the found that they were really messed up. Seems like you'd be able to get the first doctor in trouble.
