Docking Station special question

So recently the laptop of my gf just stopped responding to the electricity cable plugged in. We thought it is the cable and bought a new one. However, the problem is in the little "port" (or whatever this part is called) where the electricity cable plugs into the laptop. I guess changing that part is too expensive, so I thought buying a Docking station. However I don't know if it can be used for electricity source for the laptop.

Are there any special things to be known for these docks???

All the docking stations I've ever used have provided power to the laptop docked in them. This includes only proper 1st party docking stations, none of that USB attached peripheral hub stuff, of course. Should work fine for your application.

If possible, try to get a good look at the docking station to make sure that it isn't using the same power port for its connection. Probably isn't, but just make sure.
