.doc problems

I have just finished a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit on my computer. I backed up using Carbonite Online, Acronis True Image Home along with manual backups on a external HDD. After saving I noticed that the text all .doc extensions were "fragmented" for want of a better description. In restoring to the new system, I used portions of all three backups as I thought best. When I open .doc files on the new installation, the files are still fragmented. I can use Notepad or MS Word to open these files however I find that I can make small text changes and re-save the Doc under a new file name and the text is still fragmented. I can operate OK under these conditions however it is an impediment to efficiency. I have reinstalled clean again and the same thing happens. My old system was 32 bit, however I have been assured that the 64 bit system was the best way to go. Can anyone anylize my problem and send help?

Thanks in advance. Ted

Your problem description is difficult to understand. What is meant by fragmented? That the doc files are split across several individual file segments (or fragments?) or that the text within a file has had control characters added and thus lines of text appear broken up (fragmented?)within the document file?

Hi C1 I have an image of a sample of the problem, however with a printed page of directions here in my hand I still can't find a way to attach it. If you might send me an email address I can try to send you this image. If not, I certainly understand. E
What I have is line after line with random text with weird symbols and symbols with large gaps between; full lines of ys, and random fragments from the original sentences. That's about the best that I can do. Like I say I can open it in Notepad and it is OK.

Try to open the properties of atleast 1 .doc file then change the open with program and use Microsoft Word for that .doc file then ok.
