I was shocked to hear that a doc prescribed my mother Celebrex for her bad knee.. my mother is very tall and has lots of tightness/swelling/pain in her ankles and knees whenever she exerts herself walking, etc. Doc x-rayed the knee and found no problems so her prescribed her Celebrex.

Uh... wtf? I thought. Isn't this drug bad stuff? Aren't sleazy lawyers banging cable TV networks for celebrex personal injury cases 24/7?

Is there something I'm missing? Wasn't Celebrex taken off the list? Apparently my mom get her pills and started the first dose... doc wants to try it for three weeks dialy.

I'm trying to get a hold of the doctor himself, not one of his braindead insurance filers, to get the explanation of why he's choosing this method.

All of those drugs taken off the market are dangerous only if you take the max dose for a long period of time. It sounds like she would be on a "as needed" basis, so these drugs would probably be safe for her.

Celebrex is still on the market, despite being in the same class of drugs as the one(s) you are thinking of.
