So does this make two perfect games already for the season? How often has that happened?

Dunno, but there's only been 20 total in the entire 120 or so year history of the Major Leagues.

Never been two in a season in the modern era. And not just two in a season, two in the same month less than 3 weeks apart.

A fitting accomplishment for one of the greats, pretty much seals a HOF honor for him

He's one of the current greats, but hardly a lock for the HOF. He's 33 and has only 155 wins. Look at a guy like Bert Blyleven, who has something like 130 more victories and probably 5x CG's. Halladay needs at least 4 more great years.

One no hitter and two perfect games this early in the season? One perfect game in one seasons is pretty amazing in itself. What has changed? Smaller baseballs? :p

Class act all the way Doc.

Still pissed I don't get to salute him like he deserves with his return to Toronto.. But the best pitcher in baseball deserves every ounce of congrats and time in the spot light.

Bring him that deserved championship Philly!

ERAs have been plummeting since baseball got serious about 'roid testing. a few years back there were all of 2 pitchers with under 3 ERAs for the season.

of course a perfect game is about more than that

whats the diff between a no hitter and a perfect game?
what am i missing?

also, what if the pitcher was throwing a perfect game, and the manager put in a relief pitcher in the 7th inning and that pitcher threw the rest of the perfect game.
Who gets the 'perfect game' credit? or is it shared like perfect with an assist?

No hitter means no hits. Perfect game is no walks, hits or errors.

A no-hitter means there were no hits. A perfect game means that nobody reached base, via walk, hit by pitch, error, etc.

Yeah, you can have a "combined" perfect game or no-hitter - I think the Astros did this a few years ago - but no individual actually gets credit for it.
