Do you write your papers the night before or start ahead of time?

Me? It depends how big it is. 2 to 3 pagers I just do the night before, having made sure I have all my research done ahead of time though. The longer ones I start out earlier.

I'm just too damn lazy to start them ahead of time so even now I don't want to do the works cited part of mine... even though thats all she wants tomorrow....

2-3 pages ones I usually start 2 nights before an do half of it, then do the rest the night before. Anything longer I start early.

my research and outlines are done before hand. Then I actually write the paper 2 nights before and finish that night. Usually I do this because I can always do those last minute changes the night before if I think of any during my awake time.

My teachers tend to structure the projects - making you turn in different components over time just so they're sure you're working.

My term paper's outline is due on Wednesday (I have tommorrow off, PSAT on Tuesday morning, and my afternoon classes have free period due to 'mental wear and tear') - and I don't even have a copy of the book yet. Sparknotes will be my savior. Either that or the library will call me and tell me that the book is in tommorrow and I'll tear through it in a few hours (It's like 50 pages long - Death of a Salesmen) and do the outline properly.

My term paper for last year's english was done the night before - I almost bit the bullet on that one though, because I'd done my bibliography ahead of time and incorperated some things that I hadn't put on the bib (I realized that the paper was too short and dove into emergency research mode and added the stuff to the notes, but didn't update the bib)

It is DEFINITELY not cool to have "PLAGIARISM?" written in big red marker on the front page of your essay and then have to sit down with the teacher and let her audit every little source to make sure that I did indeed have it cited somewhere in my notes

Edit: Oh, and minor shiz like essays (2-ish pages) are very easy to come up with. All I have to do is use a little imagination and bastardize the topic into some discussion about human nature (I can do it with anything - it's especially easy if the essay is either about human nature, or an analysis of any literature) and start to inject Wingian theory (My very detailed structure of opinions and goals for humanity) and it quickly balloons out of control. Then I tie a cute little knot at the end so it looks like I was discussing somthing rational and send it on it's way.

The teachers love to read my BS - I've turned monotony into an art form for them. They can be grading a stack of 30 papers written about how Romeo and Juliet wanted to bone each other - and then they come to mine and are reading about how human relationships are just a meaningless extension to humanity's desire to be controlled by someone that they have strong emotions for - also the reason we have God.

Same here, my teachers structure it probably to try and get us to learn about doing it ahead of time, I just wip it out the night before when I'm in dought 😉

But, yeah, thats why I'm about to do the works cited for my paper. I've got the PSAT tuesday too.... I have school tomorrow though which sucks ar$.... but I don't have school thursday or friday!

I have a 2 page paper due at 8am. Its only worth 5% of my grade, Im going to do it sometime between now and then.

I also have a 3 page paper that takes the place of one of my finals. That one is 2/3s done. Ill probably rewrite the first 2/3s and finish it on Thanksgiving though.

I have a 1000 word essay due on tuesday morn. I have to critique a 350 page book (no coles note for obscure historical books) that I haven't read yet.

And yet, I am here...

I have a 1000-1250 word essay due Friday afternoon. I'll be back at school from break Tuesday afternoon... I'll probably try and start on it then since I have a test on Friday, also.

never start until the night before.

Ditto. I do much better under pressure. I make sure I have plenty of time to write it before I go to bed then in the morning I re-read it and revise as necessary.... after all, I was probably tired the night before.

I usually end up destroying a paper if I do it early then have excess time to revise it.

Usually I'm waiting on the printer to finish before I can go out the door.

Yes, I usually do them the night before. In fact, I'm writing a paper right now that is due in the morning.
