Do you worry about things that you have no control over?

Volcanos, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, heatwaves, freezes, automobile accidents, diseases, killer bees, man eating moths, rabid dogs, horny goats, rampaging elephants (horny elephants?) or anything else?

I'm not.:D

No, if I get killed by any of those my death will be a hell of a lot more intersting than most other so it's all good.

No, but I encourage them.

I wish Mt. Hood would blow. That would be cool.

If I think about it, I may worry what I would do in that situation but not necessarily if it happened I know I do not have control over those things.

I don't worry about that stuff one damn bit. I even stare that kind of threat right in the face. In 1983 Houston was ravaged by Hurricane Alesia (sp?) and I was watching the 100 mph winds bend the 70 foot trees in my backyard at 90 degree angles....IT WAS AWESOME. Then I realized I was out of my tobacco (not smoking....yuck...I'm in Texas remember;)) and had to walk 2.5 miles each way in said winds to get to the Stop n Go since there were so many trees down driving was impossible.

2.5 miles, each way, in 100mph winds...for chewing tobacco?

I'm calling BS.

Not BS....ask my parents.....I was just young and fearless (stupid). The scary thing was the 2 times I had trees fall across the road near me. I almost turned back but that tobacco monkey is pretty strong and I am stubborn.

Well, when Hurricane Opal hit Auburn. Some friends and I decided to have a hurricane party but needed booze. We nearly hydrolocked a couple of cars headed to the ABC store and picking up a friend from work. :) I also stood outside and watched our transformer blow up during Opal. Yes, I was young and stupid. :)

Of cource. Everybody does.

It isn't so much a question of "do you worry?" but rather "to what degree do you worry?".

I don't worry very much.

I'm sorry, but you are incorrect. Some people don't worry about this kind of stuff at all....even when the news is showing the pictures. Reacting accordingly to a situation does not necessarily idicate some level of worry or fear, just common sense. I personally do not worry one damn bit about the things I can't control.

You listed plenty of external things that we might not have control of, but haven't you ever fallen in love where you were in agony over having no control of the future of it? Plato called love "divine madness" so I guess I'm not the only one. All I can say is, I don't worry about hurricanes anymore...

I am pretty sure that if a asteroid was the size of the moon was about to hit the earth and obliterate it from the face of the universe, you'd be swetting it a tiny bit. ;)
